What this is

The Bible was never one book.

The word itself gives it away. “Bible” comes from the Greek ta biblia — not “the book,” but “the books.” A whole library, written by dozens of hands, in three languages, across a thousand years.

This film follows that library’s real, human story: how it was grown rather than written, the gospels that were buried in the sand, the books quietly removed only two centuries ago, the verses added by later hands, and the long argument — councils, translations, the printing press, the men burned at the stake — over who got to decide what belonged inside.

It is grounded in mainstream historical scholarship, and it is honest about what is genuinely known, what is debated, and what was simply never taught. It ends not by tearing the Bible down, but by handing it back — bigger, stranger, and more alive than the version most people are given.
